• Bangkok to Nakon Sri Thammart – Nok air connect with Lomprayah

The cheapest and most popular way for the backpackers. There are 2 companies who offer this service: lompraya catamaran and songserm express. Their air-conditiones buses depart from Khao San road in Bangkok and arrive in at their own piers at Chumphon. The boat journey to Koh Tao takes about 2-3 hours.

A railway journey with sleeping train from Bangkok to Chumpon is quite an experience and more comfortable compare to the bus. With air-conditioned, food & drink services and nice bed compartment, you can have a good sleep during the journey. The boat companies provide free transfers between their piers and Chumpon train station.

• From Bangkok to Chumpon, the passenger need to arrive at Chumpon station before 6.00 as the boats depart to Koh Tao at 7.00. Delays are possible on this train so you may have to get the afternoon boat with lompraya catamaran.
• From Chumpon to Bangkok, it’s better to take afternoon boat from Koh Tao to catch the first sleeper train from Chumpon at 19.30.
